What counts as a skin device treatment?
A device treatment uses energy instead of an injected product. The energy type decides what it can reach. Laser light is absorbed by a specific target — melanin in pigment, haemoglobin in vessels, or the pigment in a hair follicle. Focused ultrasound and radiofrequency heat deeper layers to tighten tissue. Microwave energy can reach the fat layer on the body.
Because each device is built around one kind of target, the most important decision is not the brand but the match between device and concern. That is why every plan at Bailor begins with a doctor looking at your skin, asking about your skin type, recent sun exposure and medications, and then suggesting one device — or a carefully ordered combination.
People usually look at devices when they want:
- Clearer, more even skin tone, or fewer brown spots and freckles
- Less facial redness or fewer visible capillaries
- Calmer, less oily skin during acne breakouts
- A firmer jawline or neck without injections
- Smoother, less hairy skin, or a slimmer-looking abdomen or thighs
What changes after a device course
Toning lasers tend to show gradual brightening over several sessions, vascular lasers fade redness over a few weeks, and lifting devices usually show firmness developing over 1–3 months as collagen remodels. Hair reduction builds across a course; see laser hair removal for typical session numbers.
How a device treatment visit works
- Doctor consultation We examine the area, check your skin type and history, and recommend one device and a session plan.
- Preparation Cleansing, eye protection for lasers, and numbing cream for devices that need it.
- Treatment Usually 10–60 minutes, with settings adjusted by area and skin response.
- Calming & aftercare Cooling, soothing care and written aftercare advice before you leave.
Visiting Seoul for a short stay? Tell us your dates when you book. Some devices are best done once; others work as a course of sessions 2–4 weeks apart, so we may suggest starting a course here and planning the timing of the next steps around your trip. If you are also considering injectables, the doctor will advise which order is safer on the same day.
Downtime, side effects and who should wait
Energy-based devices are widely used, but they are still medical treatments and the risks depend on the device, the settings and your skin.
- Common: warmth, redness and mild swelling for a few hours; a prickly or snapping sensation during laser pulses; temporary tenderness after lifting devices.
- Less common: small crusts or darker spots after pigment treatment that flake off within about a week, bruising after vascular lasers, or numbness and tenderness along the jaw after focused ultrasound.
- Rare: burns, blisters, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or lighter patches, particularly on tanned or darker skin types.
Tell the doctor first if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take isotretinoin, blood thinners or photosensitising medication
- Have a pacemaker, metal implants or fillers in the treatment area
- Have a recent tan, active skin infection, cold sores or a history of keloids
Afterwards, use daily sunscreen, avoid saunas and strong actives for a few days, and message us on WhatsApp with a photo if anything concerns you.
Dr. Jimin Kang, Medical Director
Every device treatment plan at Bailor starts with a face-to-face skin assessment by a doctor — not a sales counsellor. Dr. Kang's approach is "tailored, not templated": she chooses the product, dose and depth for your skin, and treats you herself or works alongside the other doctors on our in-house medical team.
Device treatment FAQ
Which skin device is right for me?
It depends on the main concern: pigment and dullness suit toning lasers, redness suits a vascular laser like Excel V, sagging suits lifting devices, and acne suits treatments such as CAPRI. A doctor recommends one after examining your skin in person.
How much do device treatments cost at Bailor?
Prices range from ₩20,000 for a small laser hair removal area to ₩2,250,000 for a large Body ONDA session, VAT excluded. Each treatment has its own price page; see the full price list.
Is there downtime after laser or device treatments?
Most toning and lifting sessions have little or no downtime beyond a few hours of redness. Pigment-targeting lasers can leave small crusts for up to a week, so plan treatment before, not right before, an event.
Can I combine several devices on the same day?
Often yes — for example a lifting device with a toning laser — but not every combination is suitable. The doctor sets the order and settings so the skin is not over-treated.
Are device treatments safe for darker skin types?
Many are, with the right device and conservative settings. Darker skin carries a higher risk of pigment changes, so tell us your skin history and avoid tanning before treatment.
Do you explain the treatment in English?
Yes. Consultations are available in English, and you can send photos and questions beforehand on WhatsApp at +82 10-3054-1757.
