What is Excel V and what does it treat?
Excel V is a laser platform made for vascular problems — anything where the colour you see comes from blood rather than pigment. It combines two wavelengths: 532 nm green light, which is absorbed strongly by haemoglobin in fine surface vessels, and 1064 nm light, which reaches deeper and larger vessels. A chilled sapphire tip touches the skin during each pulse to protect the surface while the vessel below is heated and closed.
Because the body gradually clears the treated vessels, the redness fades over the following weeks instead of disappearing on the spot. Settings can also be lowered for a gentle toning effect, which is why Excel V is often paired with Genesis Toning for overall clarity.
People usually ask about Excel V for:
- Broken or visible capillaries around the nose and cheeks
- Persistent background redness or flushing that makeup struggles to cover
- Red marks left behind after acne has calmed down
- Small red spots such as cherry angiomas or spider veins on the face
- Redness-prone, reactive skin that has not improved with creams alone
It is not designed for brown spots or melasma, which respond better to pigment-targeting lasers such as PicoSure. If you have both brown and red concerns, the doctor will usually treat them in a planned order.

Why a combination sometimes helps
The laser closes vessels, but skin that flushes easily often has a weak barrier as well. In the Redness Combo, Rejuran is added to support repair between sessions. For redness that mainly comes from inflamed acne, the doctor may first suggest acne care such as CAPRI laser so new red marks stop forming.
What changes in red, reactive skin
Distinct capillaries often fade noticeably within 2–3 weeks of a session, while background redness improves step by step across a course. How an Excel V visit works
- Doctor consultation We check whether the redness is vascular, inflammatory or pigment-related, and ask about flushing triggers and medication.
- Cleansing & eye protection Makeup is removed and protective goggles are placed over your eyes.
- Laser pulses 15–30 minutes with a cooled tip; most people feel a quick warm snap on each vessel.
- Cooling & aftercare Calming care, sunscreen and written instructions for the next few days.
Larger single vessels sometimes look darker or slightly purple straight after a pulse — that is usually expected and fades within days. If you are visiting Seoul briefly, one session can visibly reduce prominent capillaries, while diffuse redness generally needs a series spaced 3–4 weeks apart.
Downtime, side effects and aftercare
Excel V is widely used for facial vessels, but it is a medical laser and some reactions are expected:
- Common: redness, warmth and mild swelling for 1–2 days; vessels that look darker briefly before fading.
- Less common: small bruises or purple marks lasting up to a week, especially with stronger vessel settings; temporary dryness.
- Rare: blisters, small scabs, or temporary lighter or darker patches, particularly on tanned skin.
Tell the doctor before treatment if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take blood thinners, aspirin or supplements that increase bruising
- Use isotretinoin or photosensitising medication
- Have a recent tan or sunburn, cold sores, or a history of keloids
Aftercare
Avoid hot showers, saunas, alcohol and hard exercise for 2–3 days, since heat can bring redness back. Use a gentle moisturiser and SPF every day. If anything looks unusual, send a photo on WhatsApp and a doctor will review it.

How many Excel V sessions will I need?
Single visible capillaries may need 1–2 sessions, while diffuse redness or flushing usually needs 3–5 sessions about 3–4 weeks apart. The doctor gives an estimate after examining your skin.
Does Excel V hurt?
Most people describe a quick warm snap, like a small rubber band. The cooled tip reduces discomfort, and numbing cream can be applied if you are sensitive.
Can Excel V treat rosacea?
It can reduce the visible redness and vessels associated with rosacea, but it does not cure the condition. Triggers and skincare still need managing, and active inflamed bumps may need medical treatment first.
Will capillaries come back after Excel V?
Treated vessels do not usually return, but new ones can form over time with sun, heat, alcohol and age. Daily sunscreen and occasional maintenance help.
Can I fly or wear makeup after Excel V?
Flying the next day is generally fine. Light makeup is usually possible after 24 hours, or sooner with mineral makeup if the skin is not irritated.
