Who is masseter Botox for?

The masseter is the thick chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. If you clench at night, chew gum often or simply have naturally strong muscles, it can grow bulky and push the lower face outward into a square shape. Masseter Botox reduces the muscle's activity, so over several weeks it becomes smaller.

It tends to work well for:

• A wide or square lower face where you can feel the muscle bulge when you clench
• Teeth clenching or grinding(bruxism) and the tired, tight jaw that comes with it
• A slimmer, more tapered face shape without surgery

It won't help much if width comes mainly from the jaw bone or from fat under the jawline. In those cases, the doctor may suggest a different plan, such as face contour injections for fat, or HIFU lifting if the jawline is softening with age.

How much does masseter Botox cost?

The price depends mainly on the toxin brand. All three options use a 50-unit dose on our price list; the doctor may adjust units to your muscle size.

Because jaw treatment uses more units than a wrinkle area and is repeated over time, some patients move to a purer toxin after their first few sessions. The doctor can talk you through when that makes sense.

What changes after masseter Botox

Slimming is gradual: the muscle shrinks over 6–8 weeks and the effect usually lasts 4–6 months. After 2–3 sessions spaced a few months apart, many people need treatment less often. For a crisper line under the chin as well, the doctor may suggest fat-dissolving injections alongside.

How a masseter Botox visit works

1. Clench test You bite down while the doctor feels the muscle edges and checks for bone or fat contribution.
2. Mark & plan Injection points are marked in the safe lower zone of each muscle, away from the smile muscles.
3. Injection About 10 minutes, a few small injections per side; ice or numbing cream if you prefer.
4. Watch it work Chewing may feel weaker after a week or two; slimming follows over the next 1–2 months.

Visiting Seoul briefly? You can have the injection on any day of your trip — there's no visible downtime — but the slimming itself appears after you're home, so photos at 6–8 weeks are the best way to judge your result.

Side effects, cautions and aftercare

• Common: mild tenderness or a small bruise at injection points; a tired feeling when chewing tough food for 2–4 weeks.
• Less common: a slightly uneven result between sides, or a visible bulge when clenching hard (usually corrected at a later session); a hollow look under the cheekbone in very slim faces.
• Rare: an uneven smile if toxin spreads to nearby muscles, or allergic reaction.

Not suitable, or tell the doctor first, if you

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a neuromuscular condition
• Have TMJ pain, recent dental work or are starting orthodontic treatment
• Take blood thinners, certain antibiotics or muscle relaxants

Aftercare

Don't massage or press the jaw for 24 hours, and avoid saunas, alcohol and hard workouts the same day. Softer foods for the first few weeks help if chewing feels tired.
