What is laser lifting?
“Laser lifting” is a general term for treatments that use laser or light energy to firm the skin itself, rather than to treat pigment or hair. The energy warms the dermis to a controlled temperature. Existing collagen fibres contract, and over the next weeks the skin produces new collagen, so it looks and feels tighter and smoother.
Laser lifting works mainly on the skin layer. It is well suited to early laxity, crepey texture and fine lines, and to people who want a fresher, firmer look without injections or downtime. It does not reach the deep support layer that focused ultrasound treats, so it is not a substitute for HIFU lifting when the jawline has clearly descended — but the two are often combined.
People usually ask about laser lifting for:
- Skin that has lost some bounce and looks tired
- Fine lines and crepey texture on the cheeks and under the eyes
- A softer jawline in the early stages
- Maintenance between stronger lifting treatments

How the doctor chooses
If the main concern is skin quality and early laxity, a laser-based option usually comes first. If the jawline and cheeks have descended, deeper energy such as focused ultrasound or monopolar RF (Thermage) may be more appropriate, sometimes with laser lifting as a lighter maintenance step in between.
What changes in your skin
Skin may look slightly tighter and brighter soon after a session, but most of the change builds over 1–3 months as new collagen forms. The effect is subtle and natural; maintenance sessions help keep it. For a broader picture of firming options, see skin tightening.
How a laser lifting visit works
- Doctor consultation We assess laxity, skin thickness and texture, then pick a device and number of sessions.
- Preparation Cleansing and eye protection; numbing cream only if stronger settings are planned.
- Laser passes Usually 20–40 minutes of gentle, gradually building warmth over the face and neck.
- Soothing & SPF Cooling, moisturiser and sunscreen — you can usually go straight back to your day.
Laser lifting fits easily into a short visit to Seoul because there is usually nothing to hide afterwards. If you are planning several treatments, the doctor will set the order — for example, lifting before a skin booster on the same day.
Downtime, side effects and aftercare
Laser lifting is one of the gentler energy treatments, but heat in the skin still carries some risk. What to expect:
- Common: warmth, mild redness and a slightly flushed look for a few hours.
- Less common: mild swelling, dryness or sensitivity for a day or two; temporary darker patches in pigment-prone skin.
- Rare: blisters, burns or longer-lasting pigment changes.
Tell the doctor first if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take isotretinoin or photosensitising medication
- Have melasma, a recent tan, or plan strong sun exposure soon after
- Have a skin infection, cold sores or recent fillers or threads in the area
Aftercare
Moisturise well, wear SPF every day, and avoid saunas, very hot showers and strong exfoliants for 1–2 days. If anything looks unusual, send a photo on WhatsApp and a doctor will review it.

Laser lifting FAQ
How much does laser lifting cost in Gangnam?
At Bailor Clinic in Sinsa, laser lifting is priced after consultation, depending on the device and intensity. For reference, 5-Wavelength Lifting Toning is ₩500,000 and Titanium Lift starts at ₩150,000, VAT excluded. See the laser price list.
How many laser lifting sessions do I need?
Most people do a course of about 3–5 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart, then maintenance every few months. The doctor adjusts this to your skin.
Is laser lifting the same as HIFU?
No. Laser lifting mainly works on the skin layer for firmness and texture, while HIFU focuses ultrasound deeper, including the SMAS layer, for contour. They are often combined.
Does laser lifting hurt?
Most people feel gentle building warmth and no real pain. Numbing cream is usually not needed.
Is there downtime?
Usually only a few hours of mild redness. Makeup and normal activities can typically resume the same day.
Who is a good candidate?
People with early laxity, crepey texture or fine lines who want a natural, gradual change. More advanced sagging may need deeper lifting or threads.
