What is Genesis Toning?
Genesis Toning — often called Laser Genesis — uses a 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser in very short, low-energy pulses. Instead of targeting one spot hard, the handpiece is moved continuously across the face, building gentle warmth in the upper dermis. That warmth is thought to encourage collagen renewal and to reduce the tiny vessels behind diffuse redness.
Because the energy is low and the skin surface stays intact, there is no peeling or crusting. Most people describe it as a warm, tingling sensation, and they can go back to work or sightseeing straight after. The trade-off is that change is gradual: Genesis is a course treatment, not a one-off.
Genesis Toning is usually recommended for:
- Dull, tired-looking skin that lacks clarity
- Mild, diffuse redness or post-acne red marks
- Fine, uneven texture and enlarged-looking pores
- People who want a regular skin-quality treatment with no downtime
- Skin that is too sensitive for stronger lasers or peels
For distinct brown spots, freckles or melasma, the doctor may suggest a pigment-focused laser such as PicoSure instead, or combine the two.
Genesis is also a common choice before a wedding, photoshoot or holiday, because it improves clarity without any peeling period. Spacing sessions one to two weeks apart in the month before an event lets the effect build steadily while your skin keeps looking normal throughout.

When we pair Genesis with something else
If redness is driven by visible capillaries, Excel V handles the vessels while Genesis works on overall tone. For dryness and dullness together, a hydrating skin booster between toning sessions can help. Patients focused on a lit-from-within look may also like our glowing skin plan.
What changes over a Genesis course
Most people notice a fresher, smoother look within a day or two of each session, with redness and texture improving step by step across 5–10 sessions. Maintenance every 1–2 months keeps the effect. If brown spots remain after redness settles, see our brightened skin tone approach.
How a Genesis Toning visit works
- Doctor consultation We look at redness, tone and texture and decide whether Genesis alone or a combination suits you.
- Cleansing & goggles Makeup is removed and your eyes are protected. No numbing is needed.
- Laser passes About 15–20 minutes of continuous passes; you feel gentle warmth building.
- Calming & SPF A soothing step and sunscreen; you can wear makeup afterwards.
Genesis fits easily into a short stay: you can have a session on arrival and another a week later. Many visitors add it to the same day as an injectable or a Shurink lifting session — the doctor will set the order.
Downtime, side effects and aftercare
Genesis is one of the gentler lasers, but it is still a medical treatment:
- Common: warmth and slight pinkness for up to an hour; mild dryness for a day.
- Less common: temporary flushing in very reactive skin, or a few small breakouts as skin adjusts.
- Rare: superficial burns or temporary pigment change, more likely on tanned skin.
Tell the doctor before treatment if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Use isotretinoin or photosensitising medication
- Have a recent tan or sunburn, cold sores or an active skin infection
- Have had another laser or peel in the last two weeks
Aftercare
Keep skin moisturised, use SPF every day and avoid strong retinoids or acids for 1–2 days. If anything looks unusual, message us on WhatsApp with a photo.

Genesis Toning FAQ
How much does Genesis Toning cost in Gangnam?
At Bailor Clinic in Sinsa, a Genesis Toning session is ₩150,000 and a 5-session Excel V Genesis Toning course is ₩500,000, VAT excluded. See the laser toning price list.
How many Genesis sessions do I need?
Most people do 5–10 sessions about 1–2 weeks apart, then maintenance every 1–2 months. One session gives a short-term freshness, but lasting change builds over a course.
Is there downtime after Genesis Toning?
Usually none. Slight pinkness tends to fade within an hour, and makeup can be worn the same day.
Does Genesis Toning help melasma?
It is not a first-line melasma treatment. Low-energy toning can be part of a melasma plan, but the doctor will usually choose a pigment-focused approach and conservative settings.
Genesis or pico toning — which should I choose?
Genesis is better for redness, dullness and texture; pico toning is better for brown pigment and uneven tone. The doctor may alternate them if you have both.
Can I combine Genesis Toning with injectables?
Yes, Genesis is often done on the same day as skin boosters or Botox. The doctor usually performs the laser first, then the injection, so the treated skin is not heated afterwards.
