What is under-eye filler and who is it for?
The tear trough is the groove that runs from the inner corner of the eye towards the cheek. As we lose fat and bone support with age — or simply because of our genetics — this groove deepens and casts a shadow that reads as tiredness, even after a full night's sleep.
Under-eye filler softens that groove with a soft hyaluronic acid gel. It is one of the most technical filler areas, because the skin is thin and the anatomy is delicate, so we use small volumes and usually a blunt cannula.
It tends to suit people who have:
- A visible hollow or groove between the lower lid and cheek
- Shadowing that improves when they tilt their face up towards light
- A tired look that makeup does not fully conceal
- Good skin elasticity and no major puffy eye bags

What changes after under-eye filler
The hollow looks softer as soon as swelling settles, usually within 1–2 weeks. The aim is a fresher, rested look rather than a different eye shape. If fine lines remain, skin-focused options from our under-eye wrinkle page can be added later.
How an under-eye filler visit works
- Assessment Upright, in good light, the doctor checks hollows, fat bags, pigment and skin thickness, and explains what filler can and cannot change.
- Numbing Numbing cream for about 30 minutes; the entry point is also numbed.
- Cannula placement Small amounts are placed deep along the trough, checking symmetry while you sit up.
- Review Cold compress and a mirror check; we confirm the review date and aftercare.
Under-eye swelling can look uneven for the first few days, so we judge the result after 2 weeks. If you are travelling, have filler early in your trip and avoid long, salty dinners and alcohol the first night, which can increase puffiness.
Downtime, side effects and safety
The under-eye area needs particular care, and we prefer to under-correct and add later rather than overfill.
- Common: swelling, tenderness and bruising for 3–7 days; slight lumpiness that settles as the filler integrates.
- Less common: prolonged puffiness (oedema), a bluish tint if filler sits too superficially (Tyndall effect), or visible lumps that may need adjustment or dissolving.
- Rare: infection, allergic reaction, or blood-vessel occlusion, which can affect vision in exceptional cases — seek help immediately for sudden pain, blanching or any visual change.
Tell the doctor first if
You are pregnant or breastfeeding, have had eyelid surgery or previous filler in the area, take blood thinners, have allergies to lidocaine or hyaluronic acid products, or have significant puffy eye bags or allergy-related swelling. Pregnant patients should postpone treatment.

Will under-eye filler remove dark circles?
It helps when dark circles are mainly a shadow from a hollow. Pigment-related darkness or visible veins need different treatments.
How long does under-eye filler last?
Results commonly last around 9–12 months, sometimes longer, depending on the product, your metabolism and lifestyle.
Can under-eye filler be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. Dissolving is ₩150,000 per 1cc, VAT excluded.
Is under-eye filler safe?
It is a well-established treatment when done by a doctor using careful technique and small volumes, but it carries real risks, including bruising, swelling and rare vascular complications, which we discuss before treatment.
Can I fly after under-eye filler?
Flying a day or two later is generally fine, though swelling may be slightly more noticeable. Having treatment early in your trip lets you return for a check before you leave.
