What is a PDRN injection?
PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide: short DNA fragments purified from salmon. In medicine it has been used to support tissue healing, and in dermatology it is used as a skin booster that helps the skin recover, calm and hold moisture. It is closely related to PN (polynucleotide) boosters such as Rejuran Healer, which use longer DNA chains and feel slightly thicker.
PDRN is usually chosen when skin needs repair more than volume or tightening:
- Redness-prone, reactive or sensitised skin
- Skin recovering after laser, peels or acne treatment
- Dullness, dehydration and fine texture changes
- People who want a gentle first booster with minimal downtime
It does not lift, fill hollows or remove pigment by itself. For those goals, the doctor may combine it with Genesis toning or a collagen-focused treatment.

PDRN or Rejuran?
Both use salmon-derived DNA. PDRN is lighter and well suited to calming and recovery; Rejuran's PN is more concentrated and often chosen for thin skin and fine lines. Patients sometimes start with PDRN and move to Rejuran, or alternate them.
What changes after PDRN
Skin often feels more comfortable and hydrated within a week. Calmer tone and smoother texture build over 2–6 weeks, with the clearest change after a course of 3–4 sessions. Results typically last a few months, so many patients book maintenance sessions. If redness comes from visible capillaries, Excel V may be added.
How a PDRN visit works
- Doctor consultation The doctor checks redness, barrier condition and recent treatments, and confirms you have no fish allergy.
- Cleansing & numbing Makeup removal and numbing cream for about 30 minutes.
- Delivery 15–30 minutes by MTS microneedling or fine micro-injections across the face or neck.
- Soothing care A calming mask; LDM can be added for extra soothing before you leave.
PDRN fits easily into a short Seoul stay because visible downtime is minimal. It is also a common pairing on the same day as laser treatments, where it supports recovery — the doctor confirms the order on the day.
Downtime, side effects and aftercare
PDRN is among the mildest injectables, but it is still a medical procedure. Honest expectations:
- Common: pinpoint redness and tiny bumps for 1–3 days, mild tenderness, and small marks from MTS that fade within a day or two.
- Less common: small bruises, temporary dryness or a brief breakout.
- Rare: allergic reaction (particularly in people with fish or salmon allergy) or infection.
Who should not have it, or tell the doctor first
- Fish or salmon allergy — PDRN is not recommended
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active infection, cold sores or open acne lesions in the area
- Blood thinners or bleeding tendency
