What are collagen injections?
Older “collagen injections” used animal-derived collagen as a filler. That approach has largely been replaced by biostimulators: injectables that do not simply fill a space but encourage your own fibroblasts to lay down fresh collagen around the injected particles. The effect is slower than filler but tends to look softer and more like your own tissue.
Collagen stimulators are usually considered when someone has:
- Skin that feels thinner, crepey or less springy than before
- Mild, even volume loss across the temples, cheeks or under-eyes
- Early laxity on the lower face or neck
- A preference for gradual change over an instantly “done” look
They are different from hydrating skin boosters such as PDRN, which mainly calm and repair the skin surface, and from hyaluronic acid filler, which adds shape immediately. In practice, many Bailor plans combine a stimulator with a booster or a lifting device such as Thermage.
Which collagen stimulator suits you?
Each product has a different particle, depth and speed. This is a simplified version of how the doctor compares them:

| Juvelook Volume | PDLLA + HA, deeper | Hollows, under-eyes, temples | ₩300,000 |
| Ultracol | Collagen-stimulating injectable | Under-eye skin, full-face quality | ₩350,000 |
| Laetigen | Collagen-stimulating injectable | Elasticity, early sagging | ₩500,000 |

Not sure which one is right? That is normal. The doctor examines your skin thickness and fat distribution first, and may suggest starting with the gentlest option.
What changes as collagen builds
Right after treatment you may look slightly fuller from swelling and fluid, which fades within days. The real change appears slowly: skin feels thicker and firmer at around 6–8 weeks, with the full effect usually 2–3 months after the last session. Results commonly last 1–2 years. A hydrating skin booster can be added for surface glow in the meantime.
How a collagen injection visit works
- Doctor consultation Skin thickness, laxity and volume are assessed, and one product, dose and area plan is agreed.
- Numbing Numbing cream for about 30 minutes; for deeper products, local anaesthetic may be mixed in or used at entry points.
- Injection 20–40 minutes with a fine needle or cannula, spreading the product evenly in small amounts.
- Massage & care The area is moulded and cooled; some products need gentle massage at home for several days.
Collagen builds after you leave, so these treatments suit visitors who return to Seoul or are happy to see the result at home. Leave 4–6 weeks between sessions to let each one take effect.
Downtime, side effects and aftercare
Biostimulators are well established, but because they keep working for months, technique and aftercare matter. What to know:
- Common: swelling, tenderness and small bruises for 2–7 days; an early fuller look that settles as the liquid carrier is absorbed.
- Less common: small palpable bumps or nodules, more likely if home massage is skipped with products that require it, or in thin areas such as under the eyes.
- Rare: delayed inflammatory nodules or granulomas, infection, allergic reaction, or blood-vessel compromise, which needs urgent review.
Who should not have it, or tell the doctor first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (postponed)
- Active skin infection, autoimmune disease or a tendency to keloid scars
- Blood thinners or supplements such as fish oil and ginkgo
- Previous permanent fillers or threads in the same area
Avoid saunas, alcohol and hard exercise for 2–3 days, and follow the massage routine you are given. Message us on WhatsApp with a photo if a lump appears or swelling increases.

Collagen injection FAQ
How much do collagen injections cost in Gangnam?
At Bailor Clinic in Sinsa, Juvelook starts from ₩250,000 (2cc), Ultracol under-eye from ₩350,000, Sculptra from ₩500,000 (1/2 vial) and Radiesse from ₩950,000, VAT excluded. See Sculptra prices.
Are collagen injections the same as filler?
No. Hyaluronic acid filler adds volume immediately. Collagen stimulators mainly work by prompting your own collagen, so the change is gradual over 2–3 months.
How long do collagen stimulator results last?
Results commonly last 1–2 years, depending on the product, your age and lifestyle. Maintenance sessions keep the effect going.
Sculptra or Juvelook?
Juvelook is usually chosen for skin quality and smaller areas; Sculptra for wider volume loss. The doctor decides after examining your face.
Is there downtime?
Usually 2–7 days of possible swelling and bruising. Most people return to work the next day with light makeup after 24 hours.
Can I see results before I fly home?
You will see swelling settle within days, but collagen builds over weeks, so most of the improvement appears after you return home.
