Why do wrinkles form under the eyes?
Under-eye skin is roughly a third as thick as cheek skin, has few oil glands and moves thousands of times a day as you blink, talk and smile. Over time this combination produces two different kinds of lines, and telling them apart is the most important part of treatment:
- Dynamic lines — crow's feet and lower-lid creases that appear mainly when you smile or squint, caused by the ring-shaped muscle around the eye
- Static, crepey lines — fine crinkling visible even with the face relaxed, caused by thinning collagen, dryness and sun exposure
- Fold lines from laxity — a deeper crease where loose lower-lid skin folds over, often with mild puffiness
- Shadow lines from hollowness — a groove at the tear trough that looks like a wrinkle but is really lost volume
Most people have more than one type. If a hollow or dark groove is your main concern, our page on hollow under eyes explains volume-based options, and general fine lines treatment covers the rest of the face.
How we treat under-eye wrinkles at Bailor
Because the skin here is delicate, we favour fine, low-volume products and conservative device settings. A typical plan matches one main treatment to the dominant line type:

|---|---|---|---|
| Wrinkle Botox (crow's feet) | Dynamic lines when smiling | Every 3–4 months | ₩30,000 |
| Rejuran Eye 1cc | Thin, crepey lower-lid skin | 2–3 sessions | ₩180,000 |
| Juvelook Eye | Fine lines and gradual collagen | 3 sessions | ₩300,000 |
| Ultracol Under-Eye | Crepey texture, skin thickness | 1–3 sessions | ₩350,000 |
| Eye Oligio 200 shots | Mild lid laxity | Once, then yearly | ₩350,000 |
| Eye Laetigen | Elasticity, early sagging | 1–2 sessions | ₩550,000 |

For many visitors, a sensible first step is Rejuran Eye or Juvelook Eye for crepey texture, with crow's feet Botox added if lines deepen when smiling. Devices come in when the lid skin itself is loose rather than just thin. If you would like the doctor to measure skin thickness and pigment first, a skin analysis can be added to the consultation.
What changes under the eyes
Botox softens smile lines within 1–2 weeks, while boosters improve crepey texture gradually as collagen rebuilds, usually becoming visible after 3–4 weeks. Combining texture and line treatment often looks more natural than chasing one line. If you also want firmer skin elsewhere, see wrinkle-free skin plans.
How an under-eye wrinkle visit works
- Doctor assessment We look at your eyes relaxed and smiling, check skin thickness and hollowness, and agree on one main approach.
- Numbing Numbing cream for about 20–30 minutes. Eye shields are used for any device near the lids.
- Treatment Botox takes around 10 minutes; boosters 15–30 minutes with a fine needle; eye devices 20–40 minutes.
- Cooling & check Cold compress, a quick review of the injection points, and written aftercare in English.
If you are in Seoul for a short trip, book boosters early so any small bumps or bruises settle before photos or your flight. Botox needs about two weeks to reach its full effect, so a quick check-in near the end of your stay is useful when possible.
Downtime, side effects and who should wait
The under-eye area bruises more easily than other parts of the face, so we are open about what to expect:
- Common: small raised bumps for 1–3 days, mild swelling, pinpoint bruises that may last up to a week, and slight tenderness.
- Less common: a larger bruise, temporary puffiness, or uneven smoothing of crow's feet that may need a small top-up after two weeks.
- Rare: infection, allergic reaction, a slight droop of the lower lid or smile after Botox, or nodules after collagen-stimulating boosters.
Tell the doctor first if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Take blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil or similar supplements
- Have allergies, including to fish or salmon (relevant to PN/PDRN boosters)
- Have dry eye, recent eye surgery, or a neuromuscular condition
After treatment, sleep with your head slightly raised the first night, avoid rubbing the eyes, and use sunscreen and a gentle eye cream.
