Why skin loses firmness
Firmness comes from the collagen and elastin network in the dermis. From the mid-20s, the body makes roughly a little less collagen every year, and sun exposure, smoking, rapid weight change and poor sleep speed this up. The skin does not necessarily sag at first — it simply feels thinner, bounces back more slowly and shows creases that used to disappear.
Signs that a firming plan (rather than filler) may suit you:
- Skin that looks crepey when you smile or turn your head
- A softer jawline edge and early looseness under the chin
- Makeup settling into fine lines on the cheeks
- Pores that look stretched rather than oily
If the main change is visible drooping of the cheeks or jowls, read our page on sagging skin treatment, which focuses on lifting deeper layers.
How we treat loss of firmness at Bailor
Most plans combine one energy device that heats a deeper layer with a regenerative injectable that improves the skin itself. Which one comes first depends on your skin thickness, budget and how long you are in Seoul.

For thin, fragile skin we often start with Rejuran Healer to improve skin quality before adding heat. Full device prices are on our Thermage price page.
What firmer skin looks like
Firmness is a slow change. Some people notice a subtle tightening right after a device session, but the main result comes as collagen rebuilds over 1–3 months. Injectables such as Juvelook keep improving for several weeks after the last session. Results typically last 6–12 months, then a maintenance session keeps them going.
How a firming visit works
- Laxity assessment The doctor pinches, measures and photographs your skin to judge thickness and how far it has loosened.
- Numbing Numbing cream for 30–60 minutes; cooling or vibration during device passes for comfort.
- Treatment 20–60 minutes, depending on the device, shot count or injectable chosen.
- Soothing care Cooling and calming care, then a simple aftercare sheet in English.
If you are only in Seoul for a few days, a single device session is usually the most practical start; injectable courses work well when you can return 4 weeks later. Many visitors pair firming with skin tightening for the neck on the same visit.
Downtime, side effects and who should wait
Firming treatments are generally low-downtime, but heat and needles still carry risks. What to expect:
- Common: redness and warmth for a few hours, mild swelling or tenderness along the jaw for 1–3 days, small bumps after injectables.
- Less common: bruising, temporary numbness or tingling in treated areas, small nodules that soften over weeks after collagen stimulators.
- Rare: burns or blisters, temporary nerve irritation, prolonged nodules or infection.
Tell the doctor first if
you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a pacemaker or metal implants in the face (important for RF devices), have had recent filler or threads, take blood thinners, have an autoimmune or keloid-prone history, or have any active infection or cold sore. Avoid saunas and intense exercise for 24–48 hours after treatment.

Firm skin FAQ
How much does firm skin treatment cost in Gangnam?
At Bailor Clinic in Sinsa, firming starts from ₩150,000 for Titanium 10KJ. Juvelook starts from ₩250,000, Ultherapy from ₩500,000 and Thermage 300 shots is ₩1,200,000, VAT excluded. See Thermage prices.
Is firming the same as lifting?
Not quite. Firming improves the quality and elasticity of the skin; lifting repositions or tightens deeper tissue so that sagging looks less heavy. Many plans do a little of both, and the doctor explains which matters more for you.
When will I see firmer skin?
A slight tightening can appear right away after device treatments, but the real result builds over 1–3 months as new collagen forms.
Thermage or Ultherapy for firmness?
Thermage heats the dermis evenly and suits thinner, crepey skin; Ultherapy reaches deeper layers with imaging and suits early heaviness along the jaw. The doctor recommends one after examining your skin.
Can I combine firming with skin boosters?
Yes. Devices and collagen-stimulating injectables are often combined. The doctor plans the order and gap between them to keep swelling and risk low.
Is there downtime?
Usually little. Most people return to normal activities the same day, with mild redness or swelling for a few hours to a couple of days.
