Why does the face lose volume?
A youthful face is supported by evenly distributed fat pads, strong bone and dense collagen. With age, weight loss, intense exercise or illness, all three change:
- Fat pads shrink and shift — especially in the temples, mid-cheeks and under the eyes, leaving hollows and shadows
- Bone resorbs — the eye sockets widen and the jaw and cheekbones recede slightly, so skin has less to drape over
- Collagen declines — skin becomes thinner and less able to hold shape
- Gravity takes over — without support, tissue slides downward, deepening folds and jowls
Volume loss is often the hidden reason behind other concerns, such as deep nasolabial folds, hollow under-eyes or a sharp, gaunt look after weight loss. Restoring support in the right places often improves these areas indirectly, with less product than filling each line.
The aim is a rested, healthy face — not wider cheeks or a different shape. That is why our doctors usually work in small, staged amounts, reviewing the face again before adding more. Sharing an older photo of yourself at the consultation can help the doctor see where volume has changed most.
Filler or collagen stimulator: how we choose
The choice depends on how quickly you want results, how much volume is needed and whether reversibility matters to you:

|---|---|---|---|
| Juvelook Volume 4cc | PDLLA collagen stimulator | Gradual, over 2–3 months | ₩400,000 |
| Lateral cheek filler (3–5cc) | Hyaluronic acid | Immediate, reversible | ₩450,000 |
| Forehead filler (3–6cc) | Hyaluronic acid | Immediate, reversible | ₩500,000 |
| Sculptra 1/2 vial | Poly-L-lactic acid | Gradual, over 2–3 months | ₩500,000 |
| Radiesse 1 syringe | Calcium hydroxylapatite | Some immediate, then collagen | ₩950,000 |
| MD Code 5cc | Structured full-face HA plan | Immediate | ₩2,000,000 |
Prices in KRW, 10% VAT not included, updated September 2026. Sculptra 1 vial is ₩950,000 and 2 vials ₩1,800,000; MD Code 10cc is ₩3,300,000. See Sculptra prices and Radiesse prices.
Many patients combine both: a little HA filler for an immediate change in one area, and a collagen stimulator for overall support over time. Our collagen injections page explains how stimulators work in more detail.
What changes as volume returns
HA filler changes contour immediately, while Sculptra, Radiesse and Juvelook Volume improve support gradually as new collagen forms, often looking more natural to friends and family. Results from stimulators can last around two years with maintenance. See face contour injections for shaping-focused plans.
How a volume restoration visit works
- Doctor mapping We assess temples, cheeks, forehead and jaw from several angles and mark where support will help most.
- Numbing Numbing cream for about 20–30 minutes; many products are mixed with lidocaine.
- Injection 30–60 minutes, mostly by blunt cannula through a few entry points to limit bruising.
- Aftercare plan Massage instructions for Sculptra, a timeline for the next session, and English written aftercare.
Collagen stimulators work best as a course, so they suit people who visit Seoul more than once or can continue at home. On a single short trip, HA filler or one Radiesse or Juvelook Volume session is often the practical choice.
Downtime, side effects and safety
Volume treatments are routine, but they involve injecting product near blood vessels, so anatomy and technique matter.
- Common: swelling for 3–7 days, tenderness, small bruises at entry points, and a firm feeling while the product settles.
- Less common: mild asymmetry, palpable lumps, or temporary over-swelling after HA filler that settles within two weeks.
- Rare: nodules or granulomas after collagen stimulators, infection, allergic reaction, or vascular occlusion — contact us immediately about blanching, severe pain or colour change.
Not suitable, or tell the doctor first, if you
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have autoimmune disease, a history of keloids, or active skin infection
- Take blood thinners or supplements that increase bruising
- Have permanent fillers or implants in the face
Note that collagen stimulators cannot be dissolved, so we use them in measured amounts.

Volume restoration FAQ
How much does face volume treatment cost in Gangnam?
At Bailor Clinic in Sinsa, Juvelook Volume 4cc starts at ₩400,000, Sculptra 1/2 vial ₩500,000 and Radiesse 1 syringe ₩950,000, VAT excluded. HA lateral cheek filler (3–5cc) is ₩450,000. See the Sculptra price list.
Sculptra, Radiesse or Juvelook Volume — what is the difference?
All three stimulate collagen. Sculptra works most gradually and suits broad hollows; Radiesse gives some immediate support plus collagen; Juvelook Volume is softer and often used where a smooth, gradual change is preferred.
How many sessions do I need?
HA filler is usually one session. Collagen stimulators typically need 1–3 sessions about 4–6 weeks apart, depending on how much volume has been lost.
How long do results last?
HA filler typically lasts around a year. Collagen stimulators can last up to about two years, with maintenance.
Can volume loss after weight loss be treated?
Yes. Gradual collagen stimulators are often a good fit after significant weight loss because they restore support without a sudden change.
Is the consultation in English?
Yes. You can also send photos from the front and side on WhatsApp at +82 10-3054-1757 before booking.
